Welcome to Ashford Congregational Church What do the following have in common? Ashford War memorial, a blue plaque on a house, and an Olympic Gold Medal? The answer- they all exist as reminders to future generations of significant past events. Whether it is those who fell in world wars, a famous person who happened to live there or a past sporting achievement. Ashford Congregational Church also exists because something happened at a certain point in history. It is not an overstatement in saying that this event is the most pivotal event in all of human history. It is the death and resurrection of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. However, unlike other groups that gather occasionally to remember their particular historic event, we are a group of people for whom the death and resurrection of God’s Son is a personal living reality. It is personal in that Jesus Christ died for our sins and brings us into relationship with God. It is living in that God comes to live in us by His Holy Spirit and He is our source of strength. It is reality in that bringing glory to Jesus Christ rather than self becomes the overarching reason for our entire existence. None of us are the finished article, but we are all works in progress. While we have breath in our lungs, God still has some work to do on us, in us, and through us. We are delighted that you have paid us a visit and would love to see you again. We have encountered the incredible grace of God in Christ Jesus, and would love you to join us and savour His grace for yourself.
