Ashford Congregational Church plays a vital role in supporting the community by collecting and distributing surplus food to those in need. Each week, we work with local grocery stores to gather excess food that would otherwise go to waste. This not only helps reduce food waste but also ensures that families facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals. Our dedicated volunteers collect and sort the food, making it available for distribution through church events.
By providing this service in our community, we foster compassion and solidarity, embodying our mission to serve others and demonstrate the love and care of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Here are some of the partnering organisations that we work with: Neighbourly and Fareshare.
Below is a testimonial from someone in our community:
We have greatly valued the food that ACC has provided. Knowing that the food would have otherwise been wasted, but then we can make use of it, is very reassuring. Having a regular timeslot each week to collect the food is very helpful, it also helps when we are trying to feed a family of 5!a local mother
